AUVERE GOLDEN GIRL

PROFILE ~ ERIKA LABA

That old expression, ‘never judge a book by its cover’ is truer today than probably any other time in history. When you work in the fashion and fine jewelry businesses, you have a terrific opportunity to meet people from all over the world. And when you call New York City your home, like we do, your international network grows naturally.

Recently, we were able to book the multi-talented Erika Laba, a Lithuania-born and NYC-based model, for our latest photo shoot. Erika is much more than a gorgeous face. Erika has beauty, talent, and character in spades and her individuality and intelligence were apparent as she worked her magic on set.

As wonderful a model as she is, Erika is pursuing her creative ambitions beyond modeling. As a budding videographer, she will undoubtedly have the upper hand with respect to covering her subjects on camera as well as how to tell a moving story in full motion. Perhaps one day in the future, Erika can turn her camera on Auvere and tell our story in her own unique way.

Please meet Auvere’s Golden Girl, Erika Laba.

A: WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
E: I was born and raised in Lithuania.

A: WHAT IS YOUR JOB?
E: I work as a model, though in the future, I would like to switch to filmmaking. I’m currently working on some projects as a videographer.

A: WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT MODELING? HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MODEL?
E: I’ve been modeling for about 8 years. Traveling and meeting new people is always really great, but I also like the creative process of the shoots. You get to impersonate different characters and different situations, and I love those little challenges.

A: WATCHING YOU MODEL ON SET IS LIKE WATCHING A PERFORMANCE. YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO CAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF EACH SHOT WITH YOUR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AND POSES IN A VERY NATURAL, EASY WAY. YOU SEEM TO UNDERSTAND WHAT EACH PHOTOGRAPH NEEDS. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? WHAT GUIDES YOU WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR PHOTO TAKEN?
E: Understanding what the brand is about and what they represent is my guideline for who I am for the shoot. I always try my best to give the right attitude and movements, so that the brand gets the photos they need.

A: CAN YOU GIVE ALL US NON-MODELS ANY ADVICE FOR HOW TO POSE OR DIRECT OUR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS TO LOOK GREAT IN A PHOTO?
E: The most important thing is good light! Find a nice light, like the natural light from a window, stand in that light, and whatever you were doing before will look much better!

A: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE & HOW DO YOU ACCESSORIZE YOURSELF WITH JEWELRY?
E: I would describe my style as ‘mix and match!’ I like different styles and can’t decide which I prefer more, so I tend to mix it up.

A: ARE YOU AN EARRING, RING, BRACELET, OR NECKLACE GIRL?
E: I love jewelry, but jewelry doesn’t always love me back. I tend to lose my rings and break my necklaces, though I love different jewelry pieces. I usually go out with just tiny earrings and my leather bracelet.

A: DO YOU HAVE GO-TO JEWELRY PIECES THAT YOU WEAR EVERYDAY?
E: Yes, I have 3 tiny rose gold hoops and 2 golden eye studs with gemstones that I never take out. And I always wear the leather bracelet that I really love.

A: HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED TO WEAR JEWELRY OR TAKE AN INTEREST IN JEWELRY AND FASHION?
E: I was 8 when I started begging my mom to let me pierce my ears so that I could wear earrings.

A: HOW DID YOU FEEL WEARING AUVERE GOLD JEWELRY AT THE SHOOT?
E: I felt beautiful, confident, and classy.

A: WHAT WERE YOUR FAVORITE PIECES FROM THE SHOOT?
E: I loved the pieces that had more of an unexpected, irregular shape, but everything was elegant and modern.
