WHAT’S TRENDING NOW: CUTOUTS, GRAPHIC SHAPES & MORE

Editor-approved pairings of real-life fashion and high karat gold

As a jewelry and style editor, I am always looking for the latest design trends in clothing, jewelry and accessories. While Auvere’s jewelry is generally quite classic, there are a few trends that can be found in their collection (especially the 2022 drops), which resonate perfectly with the latest looks on the runway.

“I am the ultimate jewelry lover, and an authority on all things style and jewelry.”

I am seeing the following three vibes in Auvere’s jewelry collection, which I call Cutouts and Graphic Shapes, Cool and Edgy and Updated Sexy. These same trends are also reflected in the S/S 2022 runway season. This makes a wonderful opportunity to pair the perfect jewelry with the latest fashion trends!

The Runway Look

Jonathan Simkhai’s dreamy S/S 2022 collection gave us colorful knits, monochrome dressing, and a front row seat to curve-hugging silhouettes and geometric-shaped sets. Known for perfecting the flowy slip dress, this season he brought crafty elements as well including knotted fringe, modern crochet-work, and soft pastels.

British designer Christian Cowan also showcased beautiful, feminine, and graphic designs in his S/S 2022 collection. From star shaped bodices, ultra-sheer and curve hugging frocks, to geometric torso cutouts, Cowan has the perfect going-out look for your next girls night out.

The Real Life Look

Now that we are fully embracing going out again, this season we really saw a masterclass in how to dress for the occasion. To get the look of this hot spring / summer trend, it’s important to start by embracing your curves. For those who are not sure the super—sexy cutout look is for them, try a subtle spin on the trend by opting for figure—flattering shoulder cutouts or a dress that plays peekaboo with your abs. This trend is for those style risk takers. Consider going the neutral color palette route with a pastel hue or classic black and white to add a sleek element to your look. Keep the accessories classic with minimal to no embellishments and let your jewelry be the focal point.

The Jewelry Pairing

Both Jonathan Simkhai’s and Christian Cowan’s S/S 2022 runway collections provide the ultimate lesson in how to take cues from fashion when shopping for your next piece of gold jewelry. To make this look your own, mix and match your gold finishes, introduce diamonds, and remember, the more varying shapes, the better. Rings are a great place to showcase this trend. Rather than stacking, focus on one statement ring per finger. Auvere offers a plethora of 22 and 24 karat gold options with and without diamonds in several different gold finishes to achieve this look. For the perfect Cutout and Graphic shaped jewelry pairings, I recommend the Cut Out Diamond Ring, the Vortex 24K Ring Satin, the Maze Ring Polished, the Colonnade Ring Satin, and the Callen Ring Satin. The Double X Ring Polished and the Open Cage Cuff also show case the Cutouts and Graphic Shapes trend well.

The Runway Look

Jonny Johansson’s uber—cool S/S 2022 Acne collection gave us lots of leather, corsets, fitted skirts, low rise bottoms and colorful plaids. Platforms and body chains were also big at Acne this season.

Another designer who really perfected the edgy—cool girl look is Supriya Lele, whose collection is everything we want to emulate this season. The British-born Indian talent hit the scene in 2017 when she showed her first presentation with Fashion East. Lele has taken the trend to new heights with barely—there tops, ultra-low rise bottoms, cutouts and sexy heels. It’s Lele’s feminine spin on the cool-girl trend coupled with her use of color that really sets her apart. Her off the shoulder leather top is high up on my wish list this season.

The Real Life Look

What’s really fun about this trend is that it’s about toughening up your look from head to toe. To make this edgy — cool girl look your own, start with the basics. It’s about mixing soft flowy textures with rigid-structured elements. Try a sheer flowy top or dress and pair with leather pants and a jacket with studded hardware to really transform your look. Have fun by mixing pops of color with classic black and brown as both Acne and Supriya Lele have done, so effortlessly. With this trend it’s about piling on studded hardware in both your accessories and your jewelry. This is a trend to really commit to if you’re going to try it.

The Jewelry Pairing

Acne and Supriya Lele’s S/S 2022 runway collections both make cool-girl dressing look effortless. To perfect your own version of this trend, mix and match your embellished jewelry. That being said, it’s important to stick mostly to diamonds and solid metal here through the incorporation of studs. A pro tip is to remember that you really cannot take this trend too far.

Textured and matte gold feels slightly edgier to us than a shiny gold. Earrings are a great jumping off point to bring this trend into your jewelry wardrobe. Layer on the ear bling from stud earrings to chandelier iterations. Auvere offers several 22 karat gold and even 24 karat gold options with and without diamonds. To implement this popular trend into your jewelry wardrobe, I recommend the Conic Mobile Diamond Earrings, the Motorcycle Diamond Band Wide, the Double Cone Stud Earrings, and the Ice Cream Cone Diamond Earrings Small. The Pyramid Band Narrow and the Solid Maze Pendant and Chain Large/Satin also reflect this trend beautifully.

The Runway Look

Winner of the 2021 LVMH Prize, Nensi Dojaka debuted a collection hit in London for S/S 2022. Her brand blew up instantly. Dojaka is one of the most creative and inspiring new designers of the moment. Her strappy, sheer frocks have been spotted on several of the biggest style stars, including Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Zendaya, and Emma Corwin. Dojaka’s sophisticated spin on the sexy trend is what sets her apart. From form fitting cut-out jackets, expertly tailored trousers to must-have bralette tops, it’s no surprise her pieces are out of stock moments after hitting her retailers.

Coperni, another brand with a cult-following, has risen to new heights this season thanks to the talented design-duo behind the label, Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant. Their S/S 2022 collection offered up an ode to the 90’s — full of psychedelic prints, campy tee’s, bra tops, and hip hugging waistbands.

The Real Life Look

To incorporate this updated sexy trend into your wardrobe, it’s important to note that subtlety and moderation is key. This is a trend that you should be able to wear to the office, out and about with the girls, as well as your next date night. It’s about finding polished, refined pieces for the daytime. Show some skin, but not too much. Consider a crisp collared shirt with cutouts paired with your favorite trousers or a midi dress with cutout shoulders. For the evening, opt for sheer, pastel, neutral, or metallic pieces that are either form fitting or flowy. Try a bold bra top and low waisted wide leg bottoms for a night out dancing.

The Jewelry Pairing

The Updated Sexy approach to jewelry has a bit of a romantic tone. Try a heart shaped ring or pieces with diamond accents. The key here is finding a happy medium between minimalism and maximalism. You don’t want your jewelry to overpower your ensemble and vice versa. Auvere has some beautiful 22 karat gold pieces that will help you take your updated sexy look to the next level, including the Sno Cone Diamond Ring, the Spaced Out Hexa Diamond Ring, the XOXO Diamond Ring, Love First Necklace Large, Golden Horseshoe Diamond Necklace and the Big Heart Ring.
