Responsible SOURCING

OUR MATERIALS, TRACED

Responsible sourcing matters to us, and we believe it matters to you. Every Auvere piece is made from materials whose origins we have taken care to understand – gold, silver, and the diamonds and gemstones we occasionally choose. The information that follows sets forth where those materials come from and who has handled them along the way.

GOLD

We source our gold from Valcambi, S.A. (Valcambi), a leading Swiss refiner, and Asahi Refining (Asahi), a Japanese refinery with operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Japan.

RECYCLED AND VIRGIN GOLD

Both Valcambi and Asahi work with a mix of recycled and virgin gold to produce the refined product Auvere uses in its jewelry.

TRANSPARENCY, TRACEABILITY AND CONFLICT-FREE GOLD

Both companies prioritize transparency and conflict-free gold, and adhere to the leading industry standards for traceability and responsible sourcing.

Valcambi

Valcambi is in compliance with the relevant requirements, including international regulations and voluntary frameworks: the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, the LBMA Responsible Guidance on Precious Metals (LBMA Requirements), the Responsible Jewelry Council Code of Practice and Chain of Custody Standards (RJC Requirements), the World Gold Council “Conflict-Free Gold Standard” (WGC Requirements), and Dodd-Frank Act Section 1502 (Dodd-Frank).

Asahi

Asahi complies with the LBMA Requirements, RJC Requirements, WGC Requirements, Dodd-Frank, and Responsible Minerals Initiative requirements regarding transparency, traceability, and conflict-free gold. Asahi has also received accreditations from the LBMA, COMEX, the International Precious Metals Institute, the Responsible Minerals Initiative, and the RJC.

FAIRMINED AND FAIRTRADE ACCREDITATIONS

Valcambi is a Fairmined Licensed Gold Supplier and is in compliance with Fairtrade standards and requirements.

ONGOING COMPLIANCE

To ensure these standards are upheld, both Valcambi and Asahi conduct extensive due diligence in selecting their business partners. With respect to their gold, both companies have established systems that ensure traceability and submit regularly to audits of their own practices and those of their partners.

STERLING SILVER

We obtain our sterling silver from United Precious Metals Refining, Inc. (UPMR) and Legor Group S.P.A. (Legor). UPMR, the largest full-service precious metals refinery in the United States, is a leading supplier of deoxidized sterling silver. The sterling silver we source from UPMR is composed of 92.7% silver, 5.05% copper and 2.25% zinc, formulated for increased tarnish resistance and deoxidation. More information about UPMR silver is available here.

Legor, founded in 1979 in Bressanvido, Italy, is a family operated supplier of 100% recycled precious metals, including sterling silver. The sterling silver we source from Legor is composed of 93% silver, 4% copper and 3% zinc. More information about Legor silver is available here.

RECYCLED SILVER

The silver supplied by UPMR and Legor is obtained from 100% recycled content.

TRANSPARENCY, TRACEABILITY AND CONFLICT-FREE SILVER

UPMR has implemented several processes to ensure that its supply chain is free of silver that is sourced as a result of, or benefits, armed conflict or contributes to human rights abuses. UPMR undergoes frequent independent third-party audits to ensure that its documentation, implementation, authentication, and verification processes are accurate and secure. Legor ensures that all precious metals that it sources, uses, and sells originate from a controlled supply chain certified by the Chain of Custody of the Responsible Jewellery Council.

ACCREDITATIONS AND COMPLIANCE

Responsible Jewellery Council

The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) provides guidelines that define the criteria for the ethical, social, human rights, and environmental standards for responsible business practices throughout the jewelry supply chain. Legor joined the RJC in 2011 and was certified for compliance with RJC's Code of Practices in 2013. UPMR is also a member of the RJC and has been certified for compliance with the Code of Practices since 2016.

Responsible Minerals Initiative — Responsible Minerals Assurance Process

The Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) sets the due diligence standard for smelters and refiners through its Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP). Through the RMAP, UPMR conducts its due diligence in accordance with internationally recognized frameworks. UPMR has been a Conformant Smelter and in compliance with RMAP standards since 2014.

SCS Global Services

SCS Global Services (SCS) is a third-party certification, verification, and validation service. SCS has certified UPMR’s silver as obtained from 100% recycled sources. UPMR has held this certification since 2012.

DIAMONDS AND COLORED GEMSTONES

DIAMONDS

While most of our jewelry is handcrafted from high-karat gold and sterling silver, some pieces include diamonds or colored gemstones to add color and sparkle. Our diamonds are natural, not lab-grown; they are conflict-free, adhere to the Kimberley Process, and are carefully selected for quality.

COLORED GEMSTONES

We occasionally use colored gemstones, but only when we have received assurances from our suppliers that the stones are traceable and conflict-free. There is no Kimberley Process for colored gemstones, but a new technology has been developed to help the industry trace them: the Provenance Proof Blockchain.

PROVENANCE PROOF BLOCKCHAIN

The Provenance Proof Blockchain, an initiative of the Gübelin Gem Lab, is a decentralized digital ledger that records each gemstone’s journey from mine to customer. Built on blockchain technology, the platform tracks individual stones across the supply chain and is open to the entire industry. Auvere has joined the ledger and encourages our suppliers to do the same.
